You learn practical ideas for connecting your family member with IDD to a paid job. We will cover topics such as:
• identifying their job interests and skills
• getting them ready to work
• identifying potential jobs
• reaching out to employers
• connecting to community supports.
Each 75-minute session is informative and fun. You will also meet other families who are also pursuing employment. The four sessions can be done online or in person.
Course content was developed with input from our advisory board comprised of adults with disabitlies, family members, professionals, and state leaders.
It is important that your daughter or son wants to get a job. Of course, they might need some encouragement along the way to maintain that motivation. If you are unsure whether your family is a good fit, or you have questions, please email or call us to discuss your specific situation.
You can still be part of this project! Waiting periods can sometimes be quite long. We will share ideas for steps you can take right now, even if you aren’t yet connected to VR or ECF-Choices.
Absolutely! We will share self-employment success stories during the short course and would love to provide practical guidance in this area.
